!BIOGRAPHY: Lived in Barnwell District, South Carolina. He moved to Lowndes County, Georgia in 1845, following his son and daughters who had come earlier. The settled near what is not Howell Georgia in Echols County. He ran a grist mill and small store until his death in 1860.

!BIOGRAPHY: Abigail Lightsey was the daughter of John Lightsey of Colleton District, South Carolina. She was the sister of David Lightsey of South Carolina, and an aunt of her son-in-law, Samuel Lightsey. [NOTE: Either some of this information is incorrect or we have errors in the Lightsey families] She was a gifted seamstress. After Joseph died, Abigail moved to Pasco County, Florida and lived with her daughter, Mrs. John G. Howell, where she remained until her death.
