HUSBAND NOTES:
When the Atlantic, Valdosta, and Western Railroad was constructed from Jacksonville, Florida to Valdosta in 1896 it entered Lowndes County, near the south eastern corner running north-west into Valdosta. At a point about 8 miles below Valdosta and 4 miles south of Naylor a small station on this road was named for Mr. J.N. Blanton, who owned a large portion of land in that section. This was a voting precinct, and an old primitive church is also there. Settling around here were Tom Blanton, Sam Lightsey, and others.

The Obituary of June Roy Blanton appeared in the Valdosta Times on Tuesday April 6, 1976, page 2. Following is the text "June Roy Blanton, 76, of Jacksonville, Florida died Saturday in St. Luke's Hospital there following a long illness. Born in Lowndes County he had lived in Jacksonville for the past 35 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Aline J. Blanton of Jacksonville; 2 sons, John W. Blanton of Tifton and J. Roy Blanton of West Palm Beach, Florida; 2 daughters, Mrs. Jack Ellis of Crystal River, Florida and Mrs. Emily Denmark of Jacksonville; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Graveside services were held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in Sunset Hills Cemetery here. Hardage and Sons Estes Kraus Funeral Home in Jacksonville was in charge of arrangements.

The obituary of Lula Claudine Giddens was in the Valdosta Times, Wednesday March 30, 1983, page 2. Graveside services for Mrs. Claudine Giddens McDonald of Jacksonville, who died Saturday there after a brief illness were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery. She was born in Valdosta and had lived in Jacksonville for many years. She was a member of Edgewood Christian Church in Jacksonville. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Ellis of Crystal River, Florida; one son Roy Blanton of Florida; one daughter in law, Mrs. John Blanton of Tifton; two sisters, Mrs. Avie Christie and Mrs. Clinton Hutchinson, both of Valdosta; several grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Carson McLane Funeral Home served the family of Mrs. McDonald.
