Obituary (The True Citizen, Waynesboro, Georgia) cites: "Charles Thomas Bargeron, Sr., 84, of Sardis, died Sunday, June 13, 1976, in an Augusta Hospital. The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 14, in Sardis Baptist Church with the Revs. Troy Hollingsworth, Lee Pullham and Walter Moore officiating. Burial was in the old Sardis Cemetery. Mr. Bargeron was a member and a deacon of the Sardis Baptist Church. He was a member of the Alexander Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lillian Moore Bargeron, Sardis; two sons, the Rev. Sterling Bargeron, Reidsville, and Charles T. Bargeron, Jr., Tifton; two sisters, Mrs. Malcolm Hale, Raleigh, N.C., and Mrs. Harold Cooper, Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Amy Bargeron, Reidsville, Robin Bargeron, Atlanta, and Charles Thomas Bargeron III, Tifton. Pallbearers were Bob Wynne, Warren Bargeron, Tom Cooper, John Glisson, John Thomas Wynne, and Steve Bargeron. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the Sardis Baptist Church."
