HUSBAND NOTES: David F. Blanton at an early age became a merchant at Shady Grove, Florida after purchasing a store founded by the Porters of Greenville. He and his son operated the store, named B.C. Blanton Store for 70 years. This was an early venture in Department Store operations and sold groceries, jewelry, clothing, and livestock feed. This store was a popular stop with the early settlers of the region as they traveled by wagon.
