HUSBAND NOTES: Joseph BALLARD (<1690-1722) (1) Joseph Ballard of Andover married Elizabeth Phelps on 28 Feb 1666. She was the daughter of Edward Phelps. They had 3 children: Joseph, Tabitha died 30 Mar 1687, another daughter name unknown who died 24 Feb 1691. (1) Elizabeth Phelps died 27 Jul 1692. Joseph Ballard then married the widow Rebecca Horne on 15 Nov 1692. Joseph Ballard died in 1722. (2) This source shows Josiah Ballard (1699-1750) as the son of Joseph Ballard and Elizabeth Phelps. The dates were hard to make out and could result in the error. (3) Joseph was an Ensign and was from Andover, Massachusetts. He served as Constable in 1688 and married Elizabeth Phelps on 28 Feb 1665. He died in 1720. Elizabeth Phelps died 27 Jul 1692. She was the daughter of Edward Phelps and Elizabeth Adams. After her death Joseph married on 15 Nov 1692 to Rebecca Stevens Horne. She died on 11 Feb 1740. She was the widow of Samuel Stevens and Simon Horne and daughter of Joshua Rea and Sarah Waters. Joseph and Elizabeth had the following children: (a) Elizabeth married George Abbott on 13 Sep 1689 (b) Joseph born 26 Jan 1667 (c) Humphry (d) Ellenor born 24 Aug 1672 married John Jackson on 13 Sep 1689 (e) William born 3 Dec 1674 died 2 Sep 1707 (f) Hannah born 17 Jul 1677 (g) Dorothy born 8 Nov 1679 married Joseph Gibson (h) Hezekiah born 22 Mar 1682 (i) Uriah born 16 Nov 1684 (j) Tabitha born 19 Mar 1686 died 30 Nov 1687 (k) Tabitha born 28 Mar 1688 died 24 Feb 1691. The following children were by his second marriage to Rebecca Stevens Horne: (a) Jeremiah born 29 Mar 1697 (b) Josiah born 22 Jun 1699 married Mary Chandler.
