HUSBAND NOTES: James A. Blanton moved to Lowndes County (now Brooks County) with his parents. He lived there until 1842 when he moved to Madison County, Florida near Shady Grove. He was a member and ordained minister of the Primitive Baptist Church. He was a member of Bethany Church in Brooks County and later Bethlehem Church in Brooks County. He was church clerk on 12 Oct 1844 and deacon 6 Dec 1844 and ordained to deaconship 10 May 1845. He transferred his membership to Friendship Church in Florida and ordained to ministry in 1859. James A. Blanton is listed as a private who enlisted on 4/26/1861 in Talbot County, Georgia Southern Rifles. He was wounded and captured at Winchester, Virginia on 9/19/1864. No later record.
