HUSBAND NOTES: We know that John Henry Blanton and Alcie Peters had five children, but only one lived. The 1900 census stated that Alcie was the mother of 3 children with 1 living (son Roy born Jan 1900), indicating that two children were born between 1890 and 1900. Alcie was listed in the 1910 census as the mother of 5 children with 1 living indicating that 2 children were born between 1900 and 1910. She was the daughter of William J. Peters and Matilda Peters who were first cousins. Their grandfather was William Peters, Jr. OBITUARY: THE VALDOSTA TIMES, Tuesday, November 27, 1928, page 3. Funeral services for Mrs. J.H. Blanton were held yesterday afternoon at the Sineath Chapel. Rev. A.C. Pyle conducted the services, assisted by Rev. Richard W. Wallace, and great throng of friends of Mrs. Blanton filled the chapel to pay their last tribute to her memory. Following a scripture reading and prayer by Mr. Wallace, Mr. Pyle paid a very fine tribute to the life and fine character of Mrs. Blanton and praised her christian life and devotion to her friends. A quartette composed of Mrs. A.C. Pyle, Mrs. George Stokes, Mr. Willaford, and Mr. Rickertson sand The Old Rugged Cross and When The Golden Bells Ring Out For You and Me at the services at the chapel. The pallbearers were: Messrs. H.H. Mcelvey, V. Blackburn, J.H. Touchton, Dan Smith, A.C. Veal, and H. F. Parrish.
