HUSBAND NOTES: Original Church letter from the Winterville Baptist Church dated 27 March 1897. Original in possession of Tommy Bargeron, 721 West 12th Street, Tifton, GA. reads "This certifies that our Bro. Thos. H. Brown and his wife Sister P.H. Brown and his daughters Sisters Lelia Brown, Dora Brown, Mamie Brown, and Eva Brown, are members in full fellowship with us and are dismissed to join another church of like faith and order. Provided this letter is deposited within 6 months. Done in conference 27 day March 1897." Signed "W.M. Coile, moderator" & "N.T. Pittard, Clerk". HUSBAND FACTS: Census: 1850 Oglethorpe County, Georgia 26 Census: 1860 Oglethorpe County, Georgia 27 Census: 1900 Madison County, Georgia 28 WIFE NOTES: There is some confusion about Penelope Fleeman. The History of Oglethorpe County, Georgia by Florrie Carter Smith states that Penny, the daughter of Thomas Fleeman married first Robert Busbin then later Thomas H. Brown. This is apparently incorrect since her birth date of 1841 does not match the dates of other children of Thomas Fleeman. Research tends to indicate that there were two Penny (or Penelope) Fleemans. One was the daughter of Thomas Fleeman, and his son James Fleeman also had a daughter Penny who was probably the one who married Thomas H. Brown. The 1850 and 1860 census records support this conclusion.
