Sir Henry Jerningham was a supporter of Queen Mary "Bloody Mary". He joined forces with her at Kenninghall in July 1553, he captured Yarmouth and rallied the county of Norfolk to her call. He was a member of Queen Mary's privy council, in 1558 when Queen Elizabeth came to throne all his properties were confiscated (Betham, THE BARONETAGE OF ENGLAND 1801-1803, page 232, table 33).
