Alexander Reid came to America from Ireland with his wife, children, and brothers about 1745. The port of entry was Philadelphia. His wife's name was spelled McKoy in Ireland where the couple was married. He was a Scotch Presbyterian. He lived four years in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, he then moved to Rockingham, North Carolina. On 11 Jan 1775 he was in Rowan County, North Carolina. At his death his son, Alexander received his plantation and the seven other children one seventh of the remaining property.
