HUSBAND NOTES: Hezekiah Parrish served in the War of 1812 as a private from Georgia. After he married he bought a farm on 15 mile Creek in Bulloch, later Emanuel County, Georgia. Over the years he received several land grants, had many slaves, and became very wealthy. In 1838 he became ill and could not take care of himself. Henry Jackson Parrish and Augustas Miles Cowart were appointed as Guardians. He later recovered, After marrying his second wife he made not arrangements for her. When he died there was a long court battle in which the will was voided and arrangements made for her care. The estate of Hezekiah Parrish was over $50,000 and 18 slaves. The final settlement came in 1865 when the slaves were freed. (Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia, Volume VIII).
