Shows name as "Geoffrey" Champlin of Portsmouth RI, Newport, Westerly, and an Immigrant. !RESIDENCE-CHILDREN: Genealogical Directory of the First Settlers of New England Showing Three Generations of those who came before May 1692 on the basis of farmers register, Volume I, by James Savage, Baltimore, Genealogical Publishing Company, 1990. (page 355), (Tifton Tift County Public Library, Tifton, Georgia.) "Jeffery" Champlin lived in Portsmouth, in Newport in 1639, and in Westerly in 1661. He had sons Jeffery, William married Mary Babcock, and Christopher. He died before 1695. According to this source this was a well known name in Rhode Island. !CHILDREN-MILITARY: Colonial Families of the United States of America, edited by Nelson Osgood Rhoades, Genealogical Publishing Company, 1966, Volume VII, page 151, (Tifton Tift County Public Library, Tifton, Georgia.)
