HUSBAND NOTES:
Robert Stanton was in the military in Connecticut in 1675. He was a soldier in King Philip's War which broke out when Indians tried to reclaim land settled by the whites. It was a bloody affair and one out of every 16 white males of military age was killed. The Europeans won. Robert Stanton took Chief Canonchet as prisoner, he was the chief sachem of all the Narragansets.

BIOGRAPHY: Robert Stanton was the youngest son of Thomas Stanton. He was mentioned in the Charter of 1677. He was a youthful soldier in 1676 to which the Indian Captain, Prince Nanunteno made reproachful answers as Hubbard tells. He married Joanna Gardner on 12 Sep 1677. His children are: (a) Joanna Stanton, b. 5 Jan 1679. (b) Lucy Stanton, b. 16 Sep 1681. (c) Ann Stanton, b. 26 Oct 1684. (d) Mary Stanton, b. 3 Feb 1687. (e) Robert Stanton, b. 7 Dec 1689. (f) Thomas Stanton, b. 9 Jan 1693. (g) Lucy Stanton, b. 3 May 1693 (as listed) (h) Gardner Stanton, b. 27 May 1701. Samuel Stanton, one of Roberts brothers married Borrodel Dennison on 15 Jun 1680. She was the daughter of Captain George Dennison. They had a son Samuel Stanton b. 16 Jun 1683, Daniel Stanton b. 4 Nov 1685, Ann Stanton b. 2 Jul 1688 (Genealogical Directory of the First Settlers of New England, Volume IV, page 166-168).
