BIOGRAPHY: Edward Winship of Cambridge was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts. In 1638 he married Jane Wilkinson, daughter of Isabel Wilkinson, they had Sara b. Apr 1638, Mary b. 2 Jul 1641, Ephram b. 29 Jun 1643 m. Hannah Rayner on 7 Apr 1670 and Elizabeth Kendall on 9 Nov 1675 Ephram died 19 Oct 1695, Joanna b. 1 Aug 1645 died 19 Nov 1707 maiden school mistress, Edward b. 8 Jun 1648 died same date. Edward Winship then married Elizabeth who survived him and had Elizabeth b. 15 Apr 1652, Edward b. 3 Mar 1654 m. Rebecca Barsham on 14 May 1683, Abigail b. 13 Feb 1656, Samuel b. 24 Oct 1658 m. Mary Poulter on 12 Apr 1687 he died 18 Jun 1696, Joseph b. 21 Jun 1661 died 18 Sep 1725, Margery b. 11 Dec 1665, Mehitable b. 14 Nov 1667. Edward Winship was a Selectman in 1637 and many years after until 1684. He was a Representative in 1663, 1664, 1681-86. The last Court under the good old charter and he died 2 Dec 1688 in his 76th year says his gravestone. Elizabeth died 19 Sep 1690 in her 58th year (Genealogical Directory of the First Settlers of New England, p. 597).
