HUSBAND NOTES: Frederick Giddens served in the Indian Wars in Captain Levi J. Knight's Company. He lived on the Nashville Valdosta Road. According to Court records, Benjamin Wooding purchased lands from Frederick Giddens and built a house on it. He built the house a few steps behind the grave of an infant buried by Frederick. Frederick had two other relatives die and came to ask permission to bury them by the infant, Wooding said no, and Frederick became angry and while Wooding was at work slipped in and buried the members anyway. Later, another family member died and the same events transpired. Wooding stated that from then on Frederick sought occasion to fight him. Wooding also stated that Silas Giddens, John's son, met him on the road and called Wooding a "damned old rascal" and tried to fight him. Shortly after, Frederick met Wooding on a road about dark and an altercation followed. Frederick was stabbed and died two months later. This event happened on May 4, 1867. Wooding entered a plea in Superior Court of justified homicide.
