HUSBAND NOTES: - BIOGRAPHY: Bozeman Adair may have lived in North Carolina before coming to Georgia, he was a witness in 1800 to the sale of land by William Adair in Wilkes County. He was administrator of William Adair's will 12 May 1804, and also appointed guardian of Susanna Adair, orphan of John Adair. He stated to the court that Catey Ramsey, a citizen of Jackson County has had several illegitmate children, among them, one said to be the child of Robert Adair, deceased and acknowledged by him in his lifetime. The child, James Ramsey, is to be educated as requested by his brother Robert and Bozeman was appointed guardian in Jackson County. He was executor of the will of Gilbert Hay of Clarke County on 19 Jan 1802 and he sold lands in Clarke County in 1802 and 1804. He moved to Madison County where he deeded land to W. H. Adair and William Adair in 1821, and Elijah Williams in 1823. (Madison County Deed book G, page 50). On 28 Nov 1836 Bozeman Adair of Carroll County deeded to William Benning of Clarke County lands granted to Bozeman in 1810 and adjoining Elijah Williams. The Paulding County Misc. Estates Book A, page 294 shows J. L. Adair, J. B. Adair, Absalon Jones, and William Adair as sec. for adminstration bonds for the estate of Bozeman Adair, desceased. J. L. and J. B. Adair were appointed temporary administrators 22 Apr 1857 (page 419 of Book A). The 1820 Madison County census shows Bozeman Adair, William Adair, and Whitmell Adair. About 1826 Bozeman moved to Carroll County where gold was discovered, and about 1841 James L., Whitmell, Mitchell, and Bozeman were found in Paulding County near Pumpkinvine Creek. (west side of Hwy 278). List children but does not list Judith Adair. !NOTE: There is perhaps some doubt that Bozeman Adair is the father of Judith Adair, the only indication is the Ancestral File from the Mormon Church Library. However, Austin in the above reference indicates several deed records that mention both Bozeman Adair and Elijah Williams. Bozeman Adair was in the Madison County area in the 1800-1820 period. It is likely that Judith Adair was his first child.
