William Cone lived near the South Carolina Line near or on the PeeDee River. He served in the Cherokee War in South Carolina from 1759-1760 as a private under Colonel George G. Powell from Craven County, South Carolina. !MILITARY: Roster of Revolutionary Soldiers in Georgia, vol. III, compiled by Mrs. Howard H. McCall, Genealogical Publishing Co., Baltimore, MD., 1969, p 58. William Cone, referred to as the elder William Cone was a Revolutionary War soldier from North Carolina. He was granted 287.5 acres of Bounty Land in Washington County, Georgia. He was referred to in the grant as an invalid soldier.
